The Power Of Vitamins

EAT WELL
Health fundamentally depends on proper nutrition - a subject barely mentioned in medical schools dedicated to furthering Big Pharma profits and agendas.

Want to know more than most doctors? Simply understand that every second, each of our cells require 59 nutrients; 32 essential vitamins, 22 minerals, a half-dozen co-factors, eight amino acids and two essential fatty acids to convert food to energy to produce energy, fight disease, grow, repair injured tissue and maintain good health. These metabolic processes release the same oxidation that causes metal to rust and apples to turn brown, “rusts” our body-gravely accelerating aging.

“Antioxidants” protect cells from oxidative damage. Which is why nutritionists recommend eating at least five servings of fruits and vegetables every day. Medical science has found that vegetarians are far less likely than meat eaters to die from heart disease, stroke and cancer because their diet provides plenty of antioxidants, such as vitamins E and C, and carotenoids. [British Medical journal Sept 28/96]

THE STUNTED LIFE OF PLANTS
Plants grown in soils depleted of essential minerals by warfare-derived nitrogen/phosphate fertilizers no longer provide the nutrients needed for healthy human metabolism. Pesticides and food processing further degrade the nutritional value of food “products”.

Chemical fertilizers are another destructive legacy of weaponry. Besides running downstream into the ocean to create catastrophic “dead Zones” devoid of sealife, the Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium in typical “NPK” fertilizers wage more war on the land. Besides being toxic with pesticide, herbicide and genetically modified residues, produce grown with petroleum-based fertilizers remains deficient in the minerals your body actually needs and can use. We need more than nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Our bodies require daily doses of selenium, chromium, calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, iodine, molybdenum, zinc, cobalt, boron and vanadium to activate vitamins, ward of dis-ease and provide us with the kind of normal functioning energy many of us cannot even remember.

The final destruction of once natural foods takes places in industrial processing. Blanching, for example, destroys up to one-half of the thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, pyridoxine and vitamin C in vegetables and fish. More than 80% of the magnesium needed for 300 different enzymatic reactions in the body-including the regulation of heartbeat-is lost in making white and “enriched” breads.

Meanwhile, our daily nutrient requirements are skyrocketing from stress, caffeine, alcohol, drugs and “junk foods” - all of which leach vitamins and minerals from the body, while feeding acidic waste into our bloodstreams that energy-robbing fungal infections thrive on.

Even if we try to eat well, average people eating the average degraded North American “foods” are seriously deficient in essential nutrients. More then 30 years ago, North Americans were already showing serious nutrient deficiencies. A 1971 Health and Nutrition Examination Survey of 28,000 Americans age 1 to 74 found that one in two women were receiving insufficient calcium; nine in 10 women were insufficient in iron; and 60% of everybody showed at least one symptom of malnutrition!

A 10 State Nutritional Survey the following year found more than half of all women and men in the USA deficient in folic acid. One in four men and one in three women were deficient in vitamin A. And a whopping one our of every three people were deficient vitamin B2. All of these are crucial nutrients needed for optimum daily functioning.

As we get older - and who doesn't? - our bodies lose even more vitamins and minerals.

URBAN RENEWAL
Vitamins are not drugs - they are nutrients, and the business of nutrition is to grow a better body. Renewal is slow and steady. Your blood cells take three months for complete renewal. Many cells of your muscles and organs take six months. The matrix of your bones and teeth take about a year. Every year over 97% of your body is completely replaced; even the structure of the DNA in your genes is reconstructed entirely from the nutrients you eat. You have to wait until the nutrients are built into your structure for their real benefits to show.

Even microscopic deficiencies can hamper brain function, reduce energy and open cells to dis-ease. We need only a few micrograms of vitamin B12 per day-less than a speck of dust. If we don't get it, the myelin sheaths protecting our nerves dissolve. This can lead to Multiple Sclerosis and other auto-immune diseases.

Another example: A pinhead of iodine is required to regulate powerful thyroid hormones that control our mood and energy - even how well we think. Every time we screw around with these daily vitamin and mineral requirements, “they will screw around with you,” says sports nutritionist Michael Colgan.

Nutrients need other nutrients to work. Simply taking supplements like extra calcium doesn't do the job. Normal bone formation, for example, requires calcium, vitamin D, zinc, copper, manganese, fluoride, silica and boron. The body will dump the excess calcium to bring blood levels back to workable ratios - which is why drinking milk without supporting vitamin D, zinc, copper, manganese, fluoride, silica and boron needed for bone formation is a disaster. In addition to courting other hazards as serious as unwanted antibiotics, growth hormones, and pus from diseased, overcrowded and overworked cows, guzzling milk and dairy products without adequate magnesium makes you lose bone mass like crazy!

Taking Vitamin C with calcium improves calcium absorption by up to 100%.

FAMILIAR SYMPTOMS?
Depending on which vital ingredients are missing in our daily diet, symptoms of vitamin and mineral deficiency can include: poor night vision, loss of appetite, increased susceptibility to viruses, teeth and gum infections, fatigue, lethargy, loss of appetite, gastrointestinal revolt, nausea, mental confusion, muscular weakness, reduced reflexes, bone loss, indigestion, nerve damage, skin inflammation, depression, anemia, poor growth, irritability, headaches, heart palpitations, swollen liver, and behavioral disorders.

In his “call for a constitution for a new world of peace, health and social justice,”
health freedom fighter Dr. Matthias Rath urges the development, practice, and protection of “cellular medicine” based on the understanding that “health and disease are not determined on the level of organs but at the level of the millions of cells that make up these organs and the human body.

DON'T BOTHER GETTING CANCER OR HEART DISEASE
“Host resistance is the key,” Louis Pasteur whispered on his death bed. The medical mafia refused to listen, choosing profitable drugs that almost invariably insure chronic dysfunction over inexpensive nutritional supplements that supply the basic building blocks of life.

The late Nobel Prize laureate Linus Pauling was stoked on vitamin C. He lived a long and productive life taking 8,000 mg of vitamin C a day to help block the cancer enzymes that snip cells like scissors in a haphazard “cut'n'paste” pastiche that causes “grave” problems.

Pauling considered MD Matthias Rath his successor.

Dr. Rath wondered why the scourge of cardiovascular disease is essentially unknown among animals - and the leading cause of North American deaths. He found that while animals make their own vitamin C, humans “cannot produce a single molecule of this vitamin and frequently get too few vitamins in our diet, exposing our blood vessel system to weakness and to the development of deposits. These deposits develop primarily in areas where our blood vessels are exposed to mechanical stress, such as the coronary arteries of the pumping heart.”

According to Dr. Rath, his research lab “has established that all types of cancer cells studied can be blocked by taking advantage of this nutrient synergy.” [www.healthsuperstore.com]

The medical literature backs him up.

For Dr. Rath, the threat of cancer no longer carries a "death verdict". Prof. Lewis Thomas agrees. “Given the right nutrition, exercise and lifestyle,” says the president of the Sloan Kettering Cancer Hospital, the human body “will resist cancer for a lifetime.”

In July 1992, Nutrition Review showed it was impossible to get sufficient vitamins from US soil - and attacked the FDA for failing to tell public that vitamins can prevent cancer. Also that year, the Journal of the American Medical Association recommended vitamin supplements to prevent heart disease. Harvard Professors Meir Stampfer and Walter Willett concluded: “A reasonable argument can be made for recommending...multi-vitamins for many individuals.” [JAMA 1993]

Referring to vitamins E, C and beta-carotene, Dr. Jeffrey Blumberg. Director of Antioxidant Research at the USDA Human Nutrition research Center, agreed, saying, “We have the confidence that these things really do work.” [March 4/94]

Dr. Rath adds, “It is a scientific fact that essentially all viruses can be partially or completely blocked by natural therapies. Ascorbate (vitamin C) decreases the multiplication (replication) of viruses… by more than 99.9%!”

"We can solve well over 90% of the all chronic diseases with simple, inexpensive natural therapies," asserts Dr. Mercola at mercola.com.

AND WE QUOTE
Here are some more high-powered vitamin-power quotes:

Dr. Walter Willet of Harvard: “Until quite recently, it was taught that everyone in the country gets enough vitamins through their diet and that taking supplements just creates expensive urine. I think we now have proof that this isn't true.”

Dr. Simin Meydani of the Human Nutritional Research Center On Aging at Boston's Tufts University: “Now we are starting to think about what is the optimum level of vitamins for lifelong health and to prevent age-associated diseases.”

Dr. Matthias Rath: “In Europe and America there are already tens of thousands of cancer patients taking advantage of this natural way to prevent and treat cancer. Hundreds of them have already recovered from this disease.”

PhD Michael Colgan literally wrote the book on The New Nutrition. Calling vitamin and mineral supplementation, “a revolution in health,” he further declares: “Antioxidant supplementation may turn out to be one of the most important disease prevention strategies of the 'Nineties: strengthen immunity - host resistance.

ONE SMALL CATCH
Before you go nuts on vitamins and neglect your health…

Remember - you have to get off the couch.

“If you have no time for exercise, you'd better reserve a lot of time for disease,” Michael Colgan sagely advises. “You need weight-bearing exercise. Muscle provides an amino acid called glutamine for your immune system. It not only holds up your structure, it holds up your immunity. The average NA woman between the ages of 20 and 40 loses eight pounds of muscle -that's a lot - and gains 23 pounds of fat. Not only does she not have the engine any more - muscle is the engine that burns fat - she doesn't have the immunity any more by the time she's 40 years old. She doesn't have the muscle to provide glutamine in times of stress.”

And that means you, too, big bubba.

May you live long and prosper.

VITAMINS FOR CHRONIC DISEASE PREVENTION IN ADULTS
Clinical Applications
Robert H. Fletcher, MD,MSc
Kathleen M. Fairfield, MD,DrPH

Vitamin deficiency syndromes such as scurvy and beriberi are uncommon in Western societies. However, suboptimal intake of some vitamins, above levels causing classic vitamin deficiency, is a risk factor for chronic diseases and common in the general population, especially the elderly. Suboptimal folic acid levels, along with suboptimal levels of vitamins B6 and B12, are a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, neural tube defects, and colon and breast cancer; low levels of vitamin D contribute to osteopenia and fractures; and low levels of the antioxidant vitamins (vitamins A, E, and C) may increase risk for several chronic diseases.

Most people do not consume an optimal amount of all vitamins by diet alone. Pending strong evidence of effectiveness from randomized trials, it appears prudent for all adults to take vitamin supplements. The evidence base for tailoring the contents of multivitamins to specific characteristics of patients such as age, sex, and physical activity and for testing vitamin levels to guide specific supplementation practices is limited. Physicians should make specific efforts to learn about their patients' use of vitamins to ensure that they are taking vitamins they should, such as folate supplementation for women in the childbearing years, and avoiding dangerous practices such as high doses of vitamin A during pregnancy or massive doses of fat-soluble vitamins at any age.

THE POWER OF VITAMINS

What if I told you of magical tablets that could, if taken daily, improve your energy, ward off most viral and bacterial infections-and cut the risks of heart attack and cancer for women and men by more than 90%?

What if I further explained that these elixirs were nutrients, not drugs, and induce no side-effects? And further, that these near-miraculous results have been verified during a decade of clinical trials. If you are one of more than 137 million Americans already spending more than $17 billion a year taking daily vitamins, minerals and herbs every day, this isn't news. [Nutrition Business Journal, 2001; Prevention Magazine, 2000]

But if you think that all vitamin supplements are created equally, keep reading - and click the links on this page.

WHO SAYS SO?
A landmark article published in the prestigious and ultra-cautious Journal of The American Medical Association states that all adults should take vitamin supplements to help prevent chronic diseases.

Reporting their findings to JAMA, Harvard Medical School MDs Robert Fletcher and Kathleen Fairfield wrote: "Suboptimal folic acid levels, along with suboptimal levels of vitamins B6 and B12, are a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, neural tube defects, and colon and breast cancer; low levels of vitamin D contribute to osteopenia and fractures; and low levels of the antioxidant vitamins (vitamins A,E, and C) may increase risk for several chronic diseases. Most people do not consume an optimal amount of all vitamins by diet alone. it appears prudent for all adults to take vitamin supplements."
[JAMA June 19/02]

Referring to vitamins E, C and beta-carotene, Dr. Jeffrey Blumberg. Director of Antioxidant Research at the USDA Human Nutrition research Center, agrees with America's top medical journal, saying, “We have the confidence that these things really do work.” [March 4/94]

Indeed they do.

In 1992 JAMA recommended vitamin supplements to prevent atherosclerosis and heart disease. Also that year, the July issue of Nutrition Review flailed FDA for failing to tell public that vitamins can prevent cancer, after showing that it was impossible to get sufficient vitamins from chemically burned-out U.S. soils..

Selenium, a vital human nutrient, is severely lacking in farm soils throughout North America. Larry Clark from Arizona University found, in a controlled multi centre study, that a daily selenium supplement cut cancer mortality in half, leading at the same time to a 46-63 percent reduction in the incidence of lung-, prostate-, and colorectal cancer. No wonder that in both New Zealand and the USA, a wide range of dietary supplements are consumed by over 50% of the population. [NIH/MOH]

Fifteen years ago, at least 60% of Washington state dieticians were taking multi-vitamins. At that time, the prestigious Kellog Report estimated that the vitamin revolution would save more than $20 billion in health care costs. This finding, and supporting statistics, alarmed the corporate illness industry into taking direct action to eliminate over-the-counter vitamin and herbal sales in North America.

They're still trying to get the FDA to pass legislation as crippling as new European laws making effective vitamin dosages available at extremely high cost and only through subscription. Only a spirited public outcry has kept these CODEX corporations at bay.

If you live in the EU, where visits to “Complementary” medical practitioners outnumber those to MDs by two to one, you, too, already know about the greatest medical breakthrough of the last century. Or if you happen to live in Britain, where one in five persons use vitamins and minerals to supplement their diets, you also know about the power of natural nutrients to heal and regenerate the body at the cellular level.
